1 vs. 100

Would you rather have......

1 Person who loves your work or 100 who are "just looking?"

1 dedicated fan or 100 "page views" on your web site?

1 real friend or 100 "FaceBook Friends?"

1 fantastic painting or 100 mediochre ones?

1 selling gallery or 100 restaurant exhibits?

1 productive hour or 100 hours watching TV?

1 week in Maui or 100 weeks at work?

1 person who refers another buyer or 100 "maybes" who found you through Google?

1 phone call from a person whose life your art has changed or 100 emails from people wanting you to add "more red" to your work?

1 customer or 100 time wasters?

Sometimes 1 is far more powerful than 100....

Remember that before jumping on the latest Internet bandwagon promising you more "hits", more "page views" and more "traffic."

	I really appreciate this blog entry! I've always been the type of person who prefers a meaningful conversation with one person to idle chat about the weather with a large crowd. I check my website hits often, but no number of hits came close to the feeling I had when I recently received an e-mail from someone who took the time to tell me exactly what they love about my work and inquire about where they could see it in real life.

	This commentary was really thought provoking... I too have many such "ones" 1 person in Geneva Switzerland sent my work to a Gallery in the Caribbean, and they have approached me for their permanent exhibition....hopefully they will be my 1 selling Gallery. 1 person buys paintings from me on a regular basis, and is considered to be my number 1 fan, and my number 1 customer 1 person sends me great reviews every time she gets a new 1 in her inbox. Another fan and a real friend. To be able to produce the 1 fantastic painting, I can't watch much T.V. and I no longer have much time to read, except for any thing to do with Art and FASO newsletters of course...... I'm hoping for that 1 week in Maui someday soon. Happily, no one so far has asked for more red, because I probably have enough of it already...

	I couldn't agree more! A late friend of mine often said,"It only takes two women and a chicken to make a market." He was the CFO for a very successful company. Artists are extremely individual by definition as designers/creators and their customers are surely as individual as they are. Always follow the "ones" which stand out to you.
