Overview:

I enjoy creating abstracts, semi abstracts, and realistic paintings. "Birds" and "The Feminine Heart" began as all my abstracts or semi abstracts, with no particular idea in mind. I just start with quick motions of the brush and whatever colors appeal to me at the moment. From there if a painting begins to remind me of a certain shape or idea I will go with that and carry it out to completion. My realistic paintings are created while going out to Plein Air paint every Tuesday with a group which I coordinate or from photographs which I take on site. If any of my visitors are artists and you live in or near Ventura County, California, please come and join us. We welcome artists of all skill levels and there is no fee.

Biography

My interest in art began when I enrolled in painting and design classes at California State University, Northridge, California, while obtaining a BA in Psychology. I thought painting would be a welcome addition to my other studies and little did I realize that my initial efforts would turn into almost forty years of passion exploration and commitment to my craft.
I continued my art education here in Ventura County and started on a journey of trying different styles, media, and subjects that has not ceased. Many times I have thought to myself that I have arrived at "My Style" but I now know that for me change plays a paramount part in my work. I must allow myself the liberty of constantly moving in new directions.
Currently I am outside painting the beautiful Ventura County scene with my fellow plein air painters or in my studio working out the latest abstract ideas that are constantly running through my mind.
